Heart Of A Goon

/Chapter 26 #2
Chapter 26 #2
Jahquel J.

Capp pulled in front of the two-story brick house, and I hopped out, kicking that nigga in the process. Khaos whipped on the block behind me as Capp hopped out, his gun already out in case some shit went down.

I knocked on the door and waited. A little boy, looked to be eight, opened the door while I held his father like roadkill. “Mommy, the door!” he hollered while staring at the unrecognizable man.

His father.

A Spanish chick with hair dye came to the door and started to scream, but I snatched her ass up. “Scream if you want to... you know what the fuck comes with this life… you lucky I’m bringing him home to you.”

I dropped him at the door and kicked the life out of him in the chest. He didn’t make a noise, and I was lowkey assuming he was dead, because every part of his body hit that street on the way over here.

The tatted blue hearts with waves in the middle on her arm, let me know she was a siren.

Deep water Demonz called the bitches that ran with them sirens. She was part of this shit, so she already knew what it was.

I walked backwards, never breaking eye contact with her. She wanted blood, and she couldn’t do shit because it was either prove that she was about this life or protect her son. She couldn’t protect the nigga in front of her, but she could protect his fucked-up offspring.

Khaos smirked as he threw up gang signs, which infuriated her more. “Bitch ass mermaid.”

I hopped back into the whip, and the moment Capp sat down, he whipped off the block and looked at me. “You know what comes with what we just did.”

“I did… I’ll take this… you got a family.”

He stomped on the brake and looked at me. “We in this shit together… family, nigga. They took a life, we took a life, now we funeral directors.”

I broke out laughing, dapping him up because this was for real my brother. Always been solid since the day we met, and ain’t never let me down. He started driving again. “Nigga, what the fuck is wrong with you?” I continued to laugh to myself.

“Everything that’s wrong with you… dragged that nigga all through Brooklyn. I would do the same shit for Joy… shit, you know the shit I’ve done for Joy.”

Zoya had always had her brother who would do anything for her. Menace made sure they were all protected and would do anything for them. She had never witnessed having a real nigga, aside from Menace, handle shit for her.

We knew not to head back to Jerk and Lime, but because we were close by, we caught a sea of Inferno Gods riding by on their bikes. I peeped both Menace and Corleon’s bike mixed in with them.

Capp’s car screen lit up, and he answered. “What up, Aim?”

“Hey Pops! So, all the street cameras along with those who have security cameras in the area were wiped. Just let me know when you’re on your way home and I can stall those cameras.”

“What about Jerk and Lime?”

I could hear typing in the background along with a kid’s show. “When Menace triggered the lights, it shut everything off in the restaurant, security included. Last bit of footage is when he’s eating with the girl. Corleon even wiped you showing up.”

I nodded. “Thanks, Aimee.”

She yawned. “Don’t mention it. I need to put this boy to bed, because Capella insists on me picking him up from the airport in the morning.”

“Never know where that boy is anymore… tell his ass to come see me when ya’ll get home… miss him.”

“Will do. You want to talk to Pop-Pop?” She spoke to Rory.

The phone sounded like he snatched it from her. “Hi Pop-Pop… luh you.”

“Love you too, Boy Boy… see you tomorrow, alright?”

“K… where Prowmise?”

Me and Capp laughed because him and Promise were thick as thieves. “In bed where you need to be.”

“I stay at your house, Pop-Pop? Please.” he begged.

Aimee and Capella did what needed to be done with Rory the moment they found out he was autistic. They went through some shit, but their main priority was always their son.

“I’ll come get you out of bed when I get home.”

“With Quack-Quack?”

Cappadonna laughed. “Quack-Quack better be in my bed… tell mommy I’m gonna come get you.”

“Prowmise?”

“Put that on Promise, boy boy… put mommy on the phone.”

Aimee got back on the phone. “Hey.”

“Aye, Aim?”

“Hmm,”

“Fuck ya… I hear you coaching him.”

Aimee busted out laughing. “It’s hard getting him up in the morning without his father here… I have some work to do, so I’ll be up when you get back. Love you, Pops… get home safe.”

“Love you more, Aim.” He shook his head, as he ended the call and he continued to the Brooklyn bridge. “Between her and Capella, asses always scamming me.”

“You love that shit though, Capp.”

“My family… I’d do anything for them. Rory ain’t bout to sleep in his room though, he gonna wanna get in bed with his Quack-Quack… I’m trying to see what Quack-Quack about.”

I shoved him. “Nigga…. Keep that shit to yourself.”

“This that grown folks… married shit.”

“Trying to know what that feel like.”

Capp looked at me. “I mean, you said you done made a baby with her.”

“Tried… don’t think she pregnant though. She would have said something… plus she said it’s hard for her to get pregnant.”

“Yeah, ight… what color should I wear to the baby shower… need me to plan the shit? My wife and sis got an event planning business… I’m CEO.”

“Feel like we doing shit backwards.”

We both became quiet as he continued to head into the city.

“You love her?” He finally broke our silence.

“Capp, you don’t even know the half.”

He nodded. “Do things your way. If everyone did things the same, life would be fucking boring. If you know that at the end of this you gonna marry her, then who the fuck cares about the order you took to get there.”

I nodded my head and remained silent.

“You marrying her, right? We marry over this way… give ’em the ring, last name and accounts.”

“Only way to do the shit.”

“Now if you want the ‘Quasim and Blair stop playing games wedding package,’ let me and Pissy know. We can do this on either side of the beach”

I started laughing. “Love ya’ll beach…. But I gotta do it my own way. Aside from my grandparents, I would be the first to get married. Moms never married, Aunt never married… I gotta set my own traditions.”

“Khaos crazy ass ain’t getting married.” Capp muttered.

“Facts… nigga too wild.”

Cappadonna snorted. “It’s the wild ones that make good husbands. I know you got to do shit your own way, but my family’s beach is always there… you fam, G.”

“Appreciate you.”

“Moms said your mom is settled in.”

“Fussing and shit, right?”

I had to make the tough choice to move my moms out her apartment. The shit was hard because I knew she felt like her independence was being taken away from her. I’ve been wanting to move her out for years, and she was always too damn stubborn.

The only reason I felt comfortable enough playing the cards I did on Joey was because she was out the house. When Boobie told me she fell transferring to her bed, I knew that she needed help and needed to get out that apartment.

“Your aunt is staying with her. You did what needed to be done. It’s hard trying to raise our parents, but she should have been out the hood.”

I looked at him. “You ever argued with a Jamaican mother?”

“Nah. I have a hard enough time arguing with my Bajan one, so I don’t want the smoke.”

I laughed. “Need to figure out what the fuck I’m doing.”

Capone and Capp told me to move my moms onto the compound when I told them about the shit Joey pulled with Zoya. It was no question; they told me to move into one of the homes they had already built.

My moms was familiar with Jean and Des.

“Got a lot of shit I need to put into place… knowing she’s good, I can finally figure out what’s next.”

“You got this shit… something small to a giant.” Capp squeezed my shoulder, as he pulled up to my building.

“Yeah.”

I dapped him up as I got out his whip and headed into the building. Felt like I had a boulder on my shoulders, but I knew better than anyone that pressure made diamonds.
